Liposuction in Singapore: Everything You Need to Know

Healthcare Business Review

Liposuction is one of the most popular aesthetic treatments in Singapore. It is a cosmetic procedure that removes those stubborn and bulging fats that can’t seem to go away even after doing diets and exercises.

FREMONT, CA: The process of liposuction involves permanently removing fat cells from the body. Liposuction, however, is neither a general weight-loss strategy nor a cure for obesity. Stretch marks, dimples, or cellulite cannot be removed with this technique. Instead, it aids in altering and improving the body's shape and contour. Individuals who receive liposuction do it to assist reshape their bodies, not to reduce significant amounts of weight. Liposuction is frequently done on the stomach, thighs, buttocks, arms, back, upper neck just below the chin, and jawline or jowls, among other areas.

The surgery would often start with the doctor injecting a local anaesthetic, making patients unconscious throughout. The surgeon will next inject the saline solution, a numbing medication, and a bleeding-controlling medication into the surgical site. To prevent harm to delicate tissues like muscles and blood arteries during the suctioning procedure, this helps the skin and fat separate from these structures. Thereafter, a cannula, a long metal tool, will be inserted beneath the skin to remove fat. To obtain a more natural-looking, smoother contour, the doctor might additionally use a tiny microcannula to remove fat from adjacent areas. Following liposuction, the fat can either be discarded or injected back into the body to improve features like the breasts, buttocks, or face.

In Singapore, there are several distinct liposuction methods. However, they all use a small tube called a cannula that is attached to a vacuum to remove fat from the body.

Tumescent liposuction: It is the most popular method of fat removal because a sterile solution is injected into the affected area. Saline, saltwater, lidocaine, and epinephrine are all components. The solution reduces blood loss, pain, and difficulty in suctioning fat.

Ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL): By using sound wave energy, the fat cells' walls are ruptured under the skin. The fat is liquefied as a result, allowing for suctioning.

SmartLipo: laser-assisted liposuction, SmartLipo benefits from a laser to produce a burst of energy to liquefy the fat.

Around 9,000 people a month search online for "liposuction," claims the International Society of Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), making it the third most popular cosmetic surgery. With the launch of the Absolute Liposuction/Fat Transfer Machine, this process is upgrading its technology in anticipation of a rise in the popularity of liposuction procedures.

In terms of safety, effectiveness, dependability, and outcomes, this ingenious new technology offers significant advantages to both cosmetic medical practitioners and patients.

The Absolute Liposuction/Fat Transfer Machine is a completely enclosed system, meaning that no fat is exposed to the air, and it keeps it extremely sterile, therefore the danger of infection is quite low. Moreover, the injection cannula has a "birdcage tip" to increase safety when removing fat and the likelihood that the fat will survive when injected into other areas of the body. It is "very impossible to put into a conduit and cause a clot to proceed to the heart" because of the birdcage head. This makes the treatment much safer and more dependable.

With more than 11 cannulas, the Absolute Liposuction / Fat Transfer Machine gives surgeons the option to select their method for extraction, harvesting, contouring, and lipofilling. The narrow design of the cannulas enables medical professionals to administer the procedure with just a small incision, lowering the likelihood of infection and minimising pain, bleeding, and swelling. It also enables medical professionals to quickly and comfortably reposition the cannula without replacing the tube. In contrast to competitor models, which only deliver 3,000–4,000 strokes per minute, the machine separates fat at a pace of 5,000 strokes per minute (or up to 6,000 with the power boost feature).

The proportion of cosmetic operations performed that involved suction to remove extra fat was 14.8 per cent for contouring, compared to a little over 13 per cent for breast augmentation. A global upsurge in aesthetic medicine, which saw over 30 million surgical and non-surgical operations performed in the previous year—an increase of 19.3 per cent from the year before—includes changing patterns. The information, which was released as part of ISAPS' most recent annual survey, reveals that the cosmetic surgery market has expanded well above pre-pandemic levels, surpassing even its two years of decrease brought on by COVID.

Since the 1980s, liposuction has advanced significantly. It is undoubtedly one of the most sought-after types of cosmetic surgery as a result of emerging trends including the use of laser and ultrasonic technology. Liposuction is becoming more accessible, secure, and painless because of recent advances in research and technology. The latest liposuction trends simply serve to further demonstrate how this body contouring technique is the only one that consistently produces results. On par with breast augmentation and rhinoplasty in terms of popularity, liposuction is still one of the most common procedures in plastic surgery. For people trying to get rid of stubborn fat and cellulite left over from weight reduction or pregnancy, it's frequently regarded as an effective remedy.
